Mar 24, 2013

oh hello.

I'm back again! Just to leave again. I'm taking a few roadtrips over the next two weeks, so you may not see much of me on here...

Anyhow, recapping. I've been tagging along some practice shoots with Mary who's awesome. I have pictures from a maternity and a 6-month old shoot that'll be posted at some point (: Oh, and I would like to say something about the word "shoot" in reference to photography. Here's a conversation between a friend and myself...

Me: Ohhh Monica I shot this adorable baby today, she had a little bunny hat on and everything!
Monica: Um.
Me: Oh my gosh that sounds so bad. I didn't shoot her, I shot her.
Monica: uhh
Me: I mean.. I mean I took a picture of her..
Monica: yeah that sounded really bad.

WHOOPS.

Also, remember how I was working on that watermark? Well, I perfected it.

yeah I know, it's pretty awesome.

Anyways, you can follow my roadtrip adventures on the Instagram as well as follow my majestic daily life filled with studying, prom preparing, college preparing and whatnot.

Have a lovely week everyone!

Perfect Weekend

This weekend was the best that I could ever have imagined.

This is my friend Therese, who lives in Michigan.
She has family that lives 40 minutes from my house.
Therese was planning to surprise me over Thanksgiving, and was conferring with Alicia. But Therese accidently send me a text message about it, instead of Alicia. So, I found out. But they covered it up, saying Therese will probably swing by over Christmas.
She lied (:
She surprised me on Friday! I was shocked, didn't see it coming at all. Literally. I was outside and had my back to the driveway, and kind of lost in my own world. Therese snuck up behind me and tackled me, and her sister Molly captured it on video. It was amazing.
Then I spent the night at her aunt and uncles, and we had amazing Mexican food and hung out. Next morning, we went to Mall of America and went on rides and had super good Asian food!

(Left to right) Me, Alicia, Therese, Monica
Best weekend ever? I think yes.

My style has changed a ton from a few years ago. I grabbed this sweater out of my mom's "Give Away Pile" and told her I love big sweaters... she said she never would have guessed. Which got me thinking. A few years ago, I would only wear very plain clothes.. t-shirts, jeans, sweatpants. Nothing too bold, nothing frilly or lacy, and when I had to dress up, it was always very tailored.
Now, I wear anything and everything. I've got a few pairs of bright colored skinny jeans and sweaters, I adore anything glittery, still not a big fan of pink unless it's my hot pink skinny jeans. I wear heels sometimes now! But I still can't walk in them. I wear skirts all the time... I think you get the picture.
I also love love love Target.. I almost always am wearing at least one item from there.

Happy Thursday (:

Murder Mystery Party

Top three from left to right: Alicia, Monica, Temma. Bottom three from left to right: Sydney, Jill, myself.

Yesterday, Alicia and I threw Monica a surprise party. Which also happened to be a Murder Mystery Party!  Alicia and I had been planning this since September, and we had looked all over for a good mystery party packet. But all the ones we found were really dirty.. and we didn't want to pay $50 for a decent one. So, we had the wonderful the idea of writing one ourselves!
Well, let me say it was a lot harder than I was expecting. But we did it, and if any of you would like to use it for your own mystery party, let me know. It is actually pretty well written if I do say so myself, and I'd hate for it to go to waste!
Anyways, here are a few of the pictures! The characters were: Mr. & Mrs. Chev, owners of Bottoms Up Nightclub, Kristine, the dumb blonde, Lil Dwayne, the bartender, Meadow Flower, the hippie, Anastasia, the singer, and Maureen, the bartender (not shown in the picture as she was played by Monica's mother because the original person couldn't make it. Long story.) The person who was murdered was the bouncer, Ty Steele, played by the wonderful little brother of Alicia and Monica.
It was so much fun.. everybody had such a great time. And then we ended with homemade cookies and cream ice cream cake! So tasty.

This pretty much sums up my week! These are all from my phone so that's why the quality is horrendous.
First picture is apple cider I made with my sister and uncle. And then it overflowed. Moral of story, use a bigger pan to cook apple cider in :) It's sooo tasty though. Second picture was from last night, when my friends and I went bowling! I suck at bowling. And apparently they don't put up bumpers for adults? Lame. Third picture is from my birthday dinner with my two best friends! It's called peanut butter deluxe, or something like that. It was amazing. The fourth picture is what I walked into my friends room and saw.. they all fell out laughing at my expression but I made them go back into the closet and repose so I could take a picture.

I got my lens in the mail on Thursday!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm a little too excited.
I'll post pictures soon!

Sep 17, 2012

This is my life plan.
So, I just ordered my first lens with my birthday money! I finally decided on a 50mm f/1.4, after lots of researching and asking my favorite photographers what they thought. It'll be here in 3-5 days and the minute I'm getting it, I'll be testing it out. The only lens I have now is my 18-55mm kit lens and as much as I love it, it's not cutting out what I want.
In other news, the routine of school has finally settled in, as I try to cram my brain with Homer, Aristotle, and all sorts of US and Ancient History. Ancient History is by far my favorite, so far.
And college visits! Planning those is also on my to do list. Which I better get back to..
(:

Getting in the swing of things.

That collage is the most accurate description of my first week of school.

Starbucks Chai tea and a lot of literature reading.  And my birthday, but I didn't take a lot of pictures, for whatever reason. It was kind of a crazy weekend.. taking the ACT, went out for a birthday dinner, church and work the next day followed by youth group. And then getting thrust into the second week of school. Anyways, I'm 18 now and that's scary enough.

I decided I'm going to actually 'blog' a little more on here, not just post pictures of my photo sessions. Get ready for some stupid stuff (:
